The Band
The Red Dawg Band consists of some of the most talented musicians Austin, TX has to offer. All are full time touring professional musicians, songwriters, and producers.
Instrumentation is dependent on the type of show required. The Band performs as a duo, trio, 4, 5 or 6 piece band. Instrumentation is: Guitars (Acoustic and Electric), Bass Guitar (Acoustic or Electric), Drums, Fiddle, Keyboards, and horns.

The Band is made up of several great players. The content of the band varies depending on the show. Here are some of the key players in The Red Dawg Band:

Danny grew up in South Central Kentucky playing everything from Bluegrass to Country to Classical to Rock and Roll. After playing in assorted bands in Kentucky, Danny made his way to Texas in 1980. Danny did a couple years touring with Texas Legend Jerry Jeff Walker as his road manager. That's where he really learned the life of a touring musician. Danny began writing and playing his own music as a part of the Austin music scene and by the early 1990s was performing on a regular basis in Texas and around the country.
Danny has performed around the country on shows with the likes of Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, John McCutcheon, Chris Smither, Bruce Robison, Nina Gerber, kelly Willis, Chris Wall, Greg Trooper, The Dixie Chicks, and many others.
In 2000 Danny and business partner Rene’ Loflin formed Red Dawg Music. Their publishing Company is Austin Red Dawg Publishing.
Danny’s 1st original work was released in April 2001 titled: Danny Britt and Red Dawg - Texas Stuff. This work was noted in Performing Songwriter Magazine and reviewed in Sing Out Magazine in 2001. Texas Stuff was also reviewed in Roots Town Magazine in 2002. Long time Austin touring musician and producer Marvin Dykhuis produced this recording. It is a collection of some of Danny’s favorite original songs that take the listener on a tour of several different kinds of music while maintaining a unique acoustic sound.
Red Dawg Music released Danny’s second original work in Feb. 2003. This CD is titled Danny Britt - The Other Side. It is co-produced by long time touring musician Chip Dolan and Danny. Several great Austin Based Artists join Danny & Chip on this recording. Some of them include Kelly Willis, Bruce Robison, Christine Albert, Chris Gage, Marvin Dykhuis, and more. This work is receiving rave reviews as well.

2011 brings a new single releases: These are available as a digital download on all the major download sites. More singles to be released in this format in 2011 and 2012.
On November 29, 2001 the Austin City Council and Austin Mayor Gus Garcia proclaimed that day Danny Britt Day for his continued efforts to maintain Austin, Texas as the Live Music Capital of the World.
Marvin Dykhuis - International Touring musician, Producer, Songwriter, Singer, and great friend. Marvin is a key part of the Red Dawg Band. He plays Acoustic and Electric Guitars, mandolin, Vocals, and any thing else we need at the time. Bio: Marvin Dykhuis is originally from Racine Wisconsin. There He started his musical career playing Clubs and Colleges throughout the Midwest with Blues Bands (Marvin and The Dogs) and Folk groups (Paffrath and Dykhuis). In 1986 he relocated to Austin Tx. and soon became a part of the rich music scene there. In 1988 he began working with Singer/Songwriter Tish Hinojosa and has been her “right hand man”, playing on all of her recordings as well as producing and writing with her. Marvin spent 8 years playing Wednesday night’s Sitting and Singing for Supper with the Threadgill Troubadours (Co-fronting the band) along side the late Champ Hood. He has been around the Globe with Ms.Hinojosa and other Texas based groups playing guitars, mandolins, banjos, Etc. Marvin has produced and played and sang on many records for Texas Singer/songwriters and groups offering a unique sound to their music. His Chomeleanesque aproach is always welcome in the studio doing movie soundtracks or performing live. From Blues to Bluegrass He’s there with an interesting twist. He is currently performing with his long time friends,Chip Dolan, Danny Bitt, Ruby Jane Smith, Kim Miller. Marvin uses ELIXER strings exclusivley!
Rich White - Great Percussionist / Drummer, Singer, Songwriter. Rich's music can be heard at www.myspace.com/richwhitejams He has a great new CD released in 2010 called "Loves the only Way".
Rich White started playing drums at the age of 5 years. At the age of 10 he made his television debut when he appeared on the “Ethma Odum Show”, a local television program on KALB in Alexandria, Louisiana. Early on he played with “Forty Acres and a Mule” in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from Louisiana State University he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he first met Tara Novick and they formed the Voo Doo Boys. The Voo Doo Boys appeared on the “Mike and Maty Show” and the “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno in 1992 where he played with Hollywood actor/singer John Corbett (Sex and the City, My Greek Wedding, HBO’s United States of Tara). A highly sought out sideman, he has played with many recording artists that include: Tish Hinojosa, Jimmy LaFave, Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Charmagne Neville, Peter Keane, Cindy Cashdollar, Ted Roddy, Tracie Lynn, Charles Thibodeaux and critically acclaimed songwriter Sonny Throckmorton (The Cowboy Rides Away/George Strait). Rich has played on many artists’ albums. He has also performed at prestigious venues and festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival and Kerrville Folk Festival. His debut album: LOVE’S THE ONLY WAY showcases his soulful voice, and features his drumming and songwriting. LOVE’S THE ONLY WAY brought together a group of finely tuned, seasoned musicians: Marvin Dykhuis (Tish Hinojosa), Chip Dolan (Bruce Robison), John Doyle (Asleep at the Wheel), Peter Keane, Brad Houser (The New Bohemians), Charlie Richards (Brandon Rhyder), Luis Coutihno, and Charlie Larkey. Charlie Larkey, who played with Carol King on the iconic Tapestry album and was also a member of The Fugs, co-produced the record along with Rich White and Mac McNabb. Rich is especially proud of the 2009 Cajun French Music Association Award he received for playing as a “special guest” on Charles Thibodeaux’s HOMMAGE’A ANDREW CORMIER record. Rich presently resides in Austin, Texas.
Jimmy Ruggiere -

Jimmy Ruggiere is an accomplished harmonica player, singer/songwriter, and fiddler. After years of working solo and with numerous bands of various styles, Jimmy met up with a young Georgia singer/songwriter, Travis Tritt, in the spring of 1987. By summertime, Jimmy had become a regular part of the act, singing backup and blowin' the harp. His harmonica quickly became an integral part of the Tritt "sound", as well as a key member of Country Club, one of country music's hottest bands.
Jimmy continued to record and tour with Tritt throughout the nineties. He appeared in several music videos, most notably "Put Some Drive in Your Country" shot in Austin and Gruene, Texas. Travis and Country Club were regulars on the Grand Ol' Opry and the Nashville Network, and made two memorable appearances on Austin City Limits on PBS. In addition to playing sold out arenas, touring Europe, appearing on Tritt videos and the occasional movie, Jimmy appeared numerous times on network TV, including multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with both Carson and Leno, and Late Night with David Letterman.
In 1998, Jimmy left Nashville and the band to study Rolfing Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado.
Never losing the music bug, he currently works with a who's who of the area's top-flight musicians both on stage and in the studio in Austin and Central, Texas.
Glenn Kawamoto - Glenn is a virtuoso on all things Bass.
Electric, Fretless, upright, you name it. Glenn has been part of the Red Dawg Family for several years. He has played on the majority of tracks on Danny's recordings.

A well-respected guitarist since the mid-seventies in the Boulder, Colorado music scene, Bradley Kopp is a native Texan who grew up in a musical family in the Texas panhandle.
In the early eighties, Bradley came to Austin, Texas. Since then, Bradley has worked with artists such as Lorrie Singer, Eliza Gilkyson, Iain Matthews, Bob Livingston, Robyn Ludwick, Will Sexton, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Alejandro Escovedo, Sara Hickman, Jimmy LaFave, Charlie Robison, Kris McKay, Freddie KRC and many others. Bradley has performed on Austin City Limits, The Texas Connection, TNN Onstage, Crook and Chase, and the Tonight Show. He has toured extensively in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan.
These day Bradley juggles his playing career with his career a producer.
Richard Bowden- Great Fiddle player and entertainer. One of the best anywhere in the
world.

Richard Bowden was the fiddler and modolin player for more than ten years in Lubbock, TX for The Maines Brothers Band, featuring the incomparable Lloyd Maines on steel guitar. Richard lives in Austin now, where he retired as member of the always clever and sardonic "Austin Lounge Lizards." He still performs regularly with artists Cary Swinney, Terry Allen, Bob Livingston, Barbara K, Will T. Massey, and more.
Charlie Irwin - Another of our great Bass Players. Charlie is a transplanted Texan from The Boston Area. Solid Player who plays with several Artists from Texas and beyond.
